Itinerary Details:
Day 1.
Day 2.
- Take a 3 hour guided boat trip and walk to Ulva Island with Ulva Tours
- Take a fishing trip from the harbour, bird watch or walk some of the short tracks around the village and bays
Day 3.
- Return to Invercargill with Stewart Island Air and pick up your rental car
- Stay one night at a farmstay in Southland or Tikana Lodge
- Driving time approximately 1 hour
Day 4.
- Drive to Te Anau and join the Fiordland Navigator at Manapouri for an overnight cruise on Doubtful Sound
- Explore the coves and bays by kayak and tender craft with a nature guide
Day 5.
Day 6.
- Drive to Queenstown and stay one night at White Shadows Country Lodge near Arrowtown
- Explore Arrowtown and Queenstown this afternoon
- Total driving time: 2.5 hours
Day 7.
- Fly to Nelson via Christchurch ( total flight time 2 hours 20 minutes)
- Collect your rental car at Nelson airport
- Stay 2 nights in Tasman at Old Schoolhouse Cottage
- Explore Nelson city today including the WOW Museum and Tahuna Beach
Day 8.
- Spend the day exploring the Tasman Bay region
- Drive to Marahau via Kiateriteri and take a short walk on the Abel Tasman Track
- For sea kayaking or boat trips into the National Park, join Wilsons Experiences
- Visit art galleries and the Hoglund Glass Studio on the return trip to Nelson
- Stop at the Mapua Wharf for dinner or a drink
Days 9 to 11.
- Drive Nelson to Picton today and catch the boat to Bay of Many Coves where you'll stay for the next 3 nights
- Enjoy fishing, sailing, walking and some rest and relaxation at this casual resort as well as excellent food and wine
- Driving time: 1.5 hours
Day 12.
- Return to Picton and travel by Interisland Ferry to Wellington where you can depart or continue on through the North Island
