Knapdale is a tranquil purpose built bed and breakfast accommodation and a great base for exploring the beautiful east coast beaches beaches and wineries around the Gisborne area. Come to Knapdale Eco Lodge to relax and enjoy home grown food, partake in the harvesting of organically grown food, listen to the birds, enjoy a leisurely stroll around the lake or through the well tracked forest. Hand feed the animals, such as deer and chickens or pick some oranges for your freshly squeezed breakfast juice.
A unique feature offered by Knapdale is the remains of Whaitiripapa, an historic Maori pa within the forest. Members of the Waka Toa cultural group are able to welcome you on to the site and explain it's history and cultural significance. A authentic Maori performance can be arranged by request on the Eastern approach to the Pa, a memorable and moving experience with the backdrop of Gisborne and the Pacific ocean.
