Ulva Island is an idyllic, predator-free bird sanctuary for rare and endangered bird and plant species, a paradise for birds and bird lovers... only 266 hectares with great walking tracks, located in the southern-most island of New Zealand, Stewart Island (in Maori: "Rakiura").

Ulva Goodwillie, your guide who is named after the Island, is a direct descendant of the first Maori peoples of Stewart Island. She is passionate and very knowledgeable about this special place and would love to share it with you... We will provide you with a unique experience, learning about native flora and fauna from a Maori and local Stewart Island perspective.

As mana whenua (guardian of the land through ancestral links), Ulva presents a welcoming warmth and connects the visitor with Rakiura's spiritual heritage and cultural and conservation values.

'Through knowledge passed down over generations, Ulva understands the traditional stories and uses of flora and fauna on Ulva Island.
