Itinerary Details:
Day 1
- Arrive Auckland Airport and transfer to your accommodation at Mollies Boutique Hotel
- Depending on when your flight arrives, you may want to stroll around the area of Ponsonby close to the hotel with it's great selection of cafes and boutiques or take a drive around the Auckland waterfront, visit the Viaduct Basin and Mission Bay
Day 2
- After breakfast at Mollies, catch a ferry to Waiheke Island and visit some of the excellent vineyards on the island and take a swim from one of the sheltered and quiet beaches
- On returning to Auckland, visit Parnell for dinner or some shopping
Day 3
- You can drive to Taupo in your own rental car or with a personal driver. Accommodation for the next 2 nights at Huka Lodge. Total Driving time Auckland to Taupo is 4 hours. Alternatively, fly to Taupo this afternoon with Air New Zealand, a 45 minute flight.
- Relax in the surrounding bush gardens of the lodge and enjoy the peace, privacy and luxury the lodge provides
- Take a jet boat ride on the Huka River
Day 4
- Join Chris Jolly for a private guided fishing trip on the lake or rivers. Taupo has some of the best trout fishing in the world.
- Explore the geothermal area around Taupo and Rotorua with a local guide
- Take a boat trip on the lake to see Maori carvings in the rock walls at the edge of the lake
- Go hot air ballooning over the Huka River
Day 5
- Leaving Taupo today, drive south to Palliser Bay via Turangi, Taihape, Woodville and Masterton
- Stay for the next 2 nights at Wharekauhau Lodge on a 5000 acre private rural reteat in Palliser Bay
- Total Driving Time today: allow 6 hours
Day 6
- Your stay at Wharekauhau includes activities such as jetboating on Lake Onoke to the Ruamahunga River, horse riding along the beach and surrounding farmland, claybird shooting, a farm tour or a tour of the vineyards in the Martinboough region
- Enjoy spa treatment at the lodge including a massage and skin therapy
- All meals are provided by the lodge are of an exceptional standard featuring fresh local produce and an extensive wine list
Day 7
- Leaving Wharekauhau late morning, drive to Wellington (allow 2 hours)
- Include some time to visit Te Papa, New Zealands National Museum on the Wellington waterfront
- After exploring the central Wellington area, drive to Wellington airport, leave your rental car there and fly to Nelson, a 35 minute flight across to the South Island.
- Transfer to your accommodation for the next 2 nights at Eden House
Day 8
- Paratiho is perfectly located for exploring the Tasman Bay region including the Abel Tasman National Park
- Join Abel Tasman Wilsons Experience for a sea kayaking tour of the National park coastline
- Take a guided wine and art tour of the Nelson region
- A Visit to the World of Wearable Arts and the Classic Car Museum is highly recommended
- Relax at the Lodge and make the most of the facilities there including tennis courts, gymnasium, heated swimming pool, library and health spa treatments
Day 9
- Fly from Nelson to Queenstown, via Christchurch. On arrival in Queenstown, transfer to your accommodation for the next 3 nights at Blanket Bay Lodge near Glenorchy
Day 10
- Fly to Milford Sound by helicopter and cruise on the Sound before returning to the lodge for lunch
- Options for the afternoon include a guided walk in the local valleys, horse trekking or a jet boat trip on the Dart River
- Blanket Bay dining is an experience to be relished - enjoy another excellent evening with an array of the best food and wine New Zealand has to offer
Day 11
- Visit Queenstown and Arrowtown today and include a ride up the Gondola for views over the lake, a walk through the lakeside botanic gardens and a trip on the Earnslaw across Lake Wakatipu to Walter Peak Station
- If you love your wines join Appellation Central Wine Tours for a guided winery tour of the region enjoying excellent scenery along the way
Day 12
- Leaving Blanket Bay late this morning, drive via Cromwell, Alexandra and the Maniototo to Dunedin where you stay for the next 2 nights at Corstorphine House
- Worthwhile stops and diversions along the way include the historic mining town of St Bathans, where you can swim in the Blue Lake, and Naseby
- Driving Time today : 4.5 hours
Day 13
- This morning, join Monarch Wildlife Tours for a cruise on the harbour to see the Royal Albatross Colony
- Optionally take a train trip on the Taeri Gorge Railway this afternoon
- Explore and shop in the top designer boutiques in Dunedin city
- Corstorphine House offers Spa Treatments
Day 14
- Drive Dunedin to Christchurch and stay at Otahuna Lodge Estate
- Make your first stop the Moeraki Boulders and also have a lunch or coffee break at Fleurs Place in Moeraki, a really special restaurant
- Oamaru is also worth stopping at to view the historic area and the coastline which is home to a well established penguin colony
- Driving time today: allow 5 hours
Day 15
- If time allows explore the central area of Christchurch including the Botanic gardens, Arts Centre, Mona Vale and the Avon River - take a Tram ride through the city
- Depart from Christchurch Airport
