After working as a frontline police officer in Frankfurt for nine years, Michael Nees left Europe in 1986 for an extended holiday to New Zealand. He travelled extensively throughout the North and South Islands by car and bicycle, tramping through the spectacular native bush of national parks including the Routeburn Track, Milford Track etc. He studied the people, history and developed a keen interest in native New Zealand birdlife.
In 1988 he began working as a Tour Guide experiencing firsthand the emerging beautiful Bed and Breakfast accommodations and luxury lodges in this country. Michael saw the potential for a niche business providing travel solutions in New Zealand, Australia and the South Pacific. By providing a user-friendly, secure service to travellers confident in using and trusting an internet travel company, GUEST would take care of all the details so travellers to this country could relax without concerns.

During the past decade, Michael Nees, the founder of GUEST New Zealand observed that travel often had many uncontrolled variables. Although the planning and dreaming was an enjoyable part of the journey, the action plans became stressful, even before the suitcases were packed.
We recognise that the Web presents a simpler way of planning and enjoying a journey. However it sometimes misses the human factor, spirit and emotion of intuition and experience. GUEST has resolved this challenge by creating a website with a Travel Design protocol. When GUEST was established, staff were chosen for their extensive travel experiences real "Kiwi" people. GUEST people are able to respond to questions about New Zealand, identify the important details and utilise the time available for travellers to create exceptional travel itineraries.
